This note contains information about Menuette version 1.0.
Menuette is a small control panel that alters the appearance of menu titles in the menu bar (at the top of your screen). Instead of the words that normally appear (such as File and Edit), you’ll see small icons representing these concepts.
To use Menuette, your computer must be running System version 7.0 or greater - Menuette is fully compatible with System 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, 32-bit addressing, and virtual memory.
Complete instructions are available within Menuette by opening Menuette and clicking on the “About Menuette” button.
If you want to quickly get started without reading the instructions, simply drag both “Menuette” and the folder named “Menuette Sets” into your System Folder, then restart your Macintosh. (You do not need the files contained in the “Menuette Templates” folder unless you plan to create your own Menuette Set icon files.)
We have had only one report of a minor incompatibility with another extension: if you use QuicKeys 2 (published by CE Software) to select menu items from menus that have been changed to icons, you’ll need to make a minor change to your QuicKey Menu/DA selectors so that they still work properly. Use the QuicKeys control panel to open the QuicKey, and then change the search option from “Look for menu by title:” to “Search All Menus”.
See the “Troubleshooting” help topic within Menuette for more information (and alternate ways of bypassing this problem) if you need it. (If you use QuicKeys 2, but do not use it to select menu items, ignore this note: you do not need to change anything.)
